Wedding dress ideas for a beach wedding – Part 2
A beach wedding can be romantic, beautiful, fun, exciting, and a whole lot of other things, probably too many to describe. However, a traditional wedding gown doesn’t work as well at the beach as it does in the church. This isn’t a huge deal, in fact if offers you the chance to find something romantic, beautiful, fun, and exciting to go with your beach scene and theme.
Think Logical-Loose the Train.
The first part of choosing a dress or gown for the beach wedding is to think logical. A train doesn’t work so well at the beach. With wind and sand as two issues that have to be dealt with, it is best to try and make it easy to deal with, the train is never easy to deal with.
Have Some Fun-Show Some Leg.
The beach setting is perfect for changing it up a little. You can have a shorter dress and have it look absolutely stunning. You don’t have to think real short (unless you want to), but bringing the hem up will make it easier to move and deal with the wind and sand. It will also lend toward the scene and feel of the wedding.

Pearls, Anyone?
Pearls are a perfect accessory here on the beach. They are natural and lend to the air of romance. You can wear them in your hair, as jewelry, or choose a dress with them on the bodice. You even have a couple of color choices that work perfect with the beach theme. White, cream, pink, and peach work fantastic as they are the colors of the beach naturally. You can also get away with light blues or greens for the color of the waters or lavender for a little fancy.
Colors, Colors, Colors.
You can add colors to your gown for a beach wedding. It doesn’t fall into the traditional category, but it is an option. You can add a colored ribbon, the colored pearls, or have a pale colored dress as well. Some great color options are pale shades including ivory, cream, tan, pink, and peach. These muted colors fit in with the lovely shades found in nature around the beach.
Flowing Top Layers.
It is a bad idea to have loose flowing material to cover you up (after all you don’t want to be caught uncovered by the wind at your wedding), but you can add flowing layers to the top. This can be done with a silk scarf (though don’t be too attached in case you loose it), or layers of lace or tooling attached to your skirt. You don’t want too much because the sand can cling to it or get in the folds, but a little adds an elegant look to a simple dress.
Flowers, Flowers, Everywhere.
You can lend a tropical air with flowers. You can pick bright ones in sea colors, aquas, blues, purples, and such. Or you can go with muted simple colors for a beach theme that isn’t tropical. You can use flowers to decorate your hair, around your wrists, and of course as a bouquet. If you are worried about the wind causing tatters, you can always go with silk flowers (and keep them for a lifetime!).
Shoes?
Bare feet can go with a beach theme. Or you can go with strappy sandals or flip flops. Choose a color that goes well with your dress. White or sand will go with anything. You can add decorations there as well if you choose. You can also paint your toe nails! If you pick a heel it is best to go with a wedge, or skip the heel altogether for an easier walk.
Choosing a gown or dress for your wedding can be difficult. A beach scene and theme can make it more simple. You can go as fancy or as casual as you want, but lending toward more casual (though still classy, elegant, and beautiful) can be a great idea. But, it doesn’t have to look completely simple, or make you look at your pictures and say, “That was a wedding?” You can dress it up and have fun with it!
