Wedding dress ideas for a beach wedding – Part 1
Beach weddings tend to be stunning events that play on the more natural notes. Using the sand and surf is a wonderful way to add a little extra magic to the already special day. But planning a beach wedding takes a little more consideration than the traditional venue.
Because it’s outside, and occurring in sand, special items or themes may need to be employed. When it comes to attire, heavy, fancy, and/or long garments are a major no-no. If the weather is hot, heavy and long clothing is going to roast the wedding party. Long and fancy clothing are troublesome for moving around in sand and get visibly dirty rather fast.
But out of all the attire questions, choosing the proper wedding dress will be one of the most important decisions made. The dress will need to have all the beauty the bride desires, and have the ability to stand up to weather and elements while still looking breathtaking.
For a casual theme, try a simple slip dress created from Egyptian cotton. Choose a hem just below the knee and a full skirt to help retain that classy look mixed with casual ease. A rich, yet subtle, wrap-around linen dress with a mid-calf hem looks cute as well, with or without sleeves.
An elegant swimsuit and matching sarong can give a pleasant bridal effect too if accented properly. Use natural shell and wood beads for adornment, or rich pearls of any shape, color, or size. A veil should not be worn with the swimsuit, it just looks silly. Try using a single, large, exotic white flower behind one ear or in the hair instead.
For a slightly tropical and/or comical approach, create a bridal “hula-girl” outfit. Use a knee or mid-calf length green, grass skirt adorned with strands of pearls and white, satin ribbon. Use a white satin bikini top covered in a subtle pattern of matching pearl beading. Slip on some lei’s made from white flowers. Wear one on an ankle, one on each wrist, one around the neck, and finish with one, single matching flower for the hair.
For a more formal look, try a longer, ruffled version of the simple slip dress. Try to keep the hem about mid-calf, and never longer than ankle length. Lace, crochet, and beading can be added to make the design a little more elaborate.
Picking a fabric like tulle or sheer crepe is another way to ensure an elegant gown. Use a full, white, multi-layered skirt with satin ribbon trimming and a matching, sweetheart, strapless neckline. Style hair up or down, but wear a large, striking flower in a light
