Unforgettable weddings – Part 3
I had the most unforgettable wedding ever. I was getting married for the second and last time. My soon-to-be husband has one child: a girl of 20. I have two children: a 16 year old daughter and an 18 year old son. I wanted an Irish wedding. I put the wedding together myself. I did everything from the tables chairs and tent, to making center pieces out of clovers. Everything was set. The day of the wedding was a clean and nice day. I was getting my hair done when I noticed that I left my make-up at home but all was well as I used my friends make-up. I thought that that would be the worse problem of the day. I was shaking during the wedding but found it to be great because I didn’t vomit on my husband even though my stomach was queasy. Everything was going great, people seemed to be enjoying themselves, that is, until the toast. First, I must explain that my son is not a great one for understanding what to say and has said a lot of things without ever using his brain. I had prepared a toast for him to say, but he wanted to do his own and I was scared. Now, I know I had a right to be. He opened his mouth and laughter came after…
“I have known my mother for a long time.” This was his first line. Everyone laughed. Then it got really bad as he went on. “I have seen my mom go through many men, but Bryan (my husband) is the best and I really like him. I am glad you have stuck with him, mom.” Everyone held their breath. I couldn’t help but laugh. As soon as I laughed then everyone else did. No one will ever forget my wedding toast but no one will ever know what I do. The toast was the way that my son expressed that he was glad for me and approved of my wedding. I wouldn’t have had my wedding toast any other way. Thanks son…
