Selling on eBay versus selling in a garage sale

Ebay… Well one thing That I found It was good for was raising funds for something you need.

I was getting Married, and had a lot of Dresses for my bridesmaids as well as favours and all the table and room decorations ect.

As I am quiet a hoarder,I needed a clear out of mine and the childrens wardrobe,Usually I will give the clothes away to someone who would get wear from them and have the respect to be grateful and wear them. I paid a lot for mine and their clothes and most were In good Condition.

After browsing througth the clothes section on Ebay I realised this was away for me to raise the money for the Wedding Items I would be purchasing on ebay anyhow this way ,It would be kinda free.

The plus to this was I had a paypal account so could save the funds from ebay until I had enough to get what I wanted.

Rather than a garage sale, were I would probably get less money, and the money would not be spent on what I really needed to get, I would much rather it never be In my hands, and find it hard to save.

Not only would you get more money, you have 2 bidder’s and the price can soar…. To ridiculous prices, but also the downside Is that you have to honor your sale so If you list something for 99p

and only one bid has been placed (and your Item is worth a lot more) Unless you have a reserve price set on It you have to go ahead with the sale. I have had to let go of some things that If listed again probably would of earn more.

With a garage sale your prices will be paid for whatever you have on it, no more Once bought Its In your bag, The upside is you won’t have any ebay listing fee’s to pay (which seem to be going up a lot lately) The downside Is you could Triple the price on ebay, They pay the postage for you to send it and if you have paypal you can save to get something costly, all with Items you would donate to a Jumble sale or school fair.

I raised a total of 800 pounds with clothes that we no longer wanted ,shoes and some toys that my son had grown out of.

This paid for 5 bridesmaid Dresses, My Circler which I had specialy made, my wedding shoes,Accesories for the Bridesmaids hair, Favours for table’s ,fancy printed table cards, and various other things I needed for the wedding.

So I would say It Is a much easier way to raise funds and to save It also.

and gives a greater profit than a Garage Sale.

Its not as exciting as visiting garage sales, Or car boot sales, and you don’t always get what you bid for but as a seller It Is very beneficial, you do get the odd person who wont like what you’ve sold them and wants a refund but I suggest you put on your listing no returns ,describe any faults or marks however small and always obtain proof of post as parcels sometimes go missing. With proof you can claim the cost back from your postal company, do not leave feedback first about a customer who you have sold to because sometimes they are so wanting more than they paid and will leave a bad feedback when recieved, this just covers yourself, apart from these things… Its a great money earner.
