How to do your own up – Part 1

ta da!

Since the early years until now, up-do hairstyles are commonly worn by women. Mainly because it is considered as versatile hairstyle that can be worn either in formal, semi-formal or casual occasions. Here are basic instructions on how to do your own up-do hair.

To start with, make sure your hair is clean and dry. Apply hair gel, moose or hair wax onto your hair for you to easily hold all pieces of hair strands. Comb your hair backward and hold it on a ponytail style with a rubber. It is much better if you hold-tied your hair upward at least more than the upper part of your head skull. Redesign your hair by means of a comb depending on the occasion, your type of wear or kind of image you want to project.

For weddings, try to divide the tied ponytail into two, the left and right part. Then, spread the hair strands by combing it flat and curl it inward towards the center. Use pins to hold on the ends at the center. Do the same with the other half to form a ribbon. This kind of up-do hairstyle is great with decorative pins that can be placed at the center of the ribbon-hair. You can use hair spray to tighten the hold of your hair.

You can also make variations like instead of ribbon shape, you can do the mushroom hairstyle wherein you need to make 360 degree curls inwards towards the center. Hair accessories like flowery head dress or jeweled hair pins can be placed at the side for added impact. This kind of hairstyle is great on off-shoulder or spaghetti-strapped gowns and dress.

For other formal occasions or prom, ribbon style can still be worn but instead of dividing it into two, make it three – right, left and down. The right and left part will form the ribbon but the lower part will remain as is. This also looks good for formal office attire like long-sleeve blouses or blazer.

For casual wear or occasions, hair can be curled inwards but leave few strands upward making a loose hair crown or few hair strands on the side can be loosened and twisted in curls like a spiral for added style. This kind of hairstyle is great with jeans and shirts. It looks cool but has a touch of elegance.

Other variations can be done like instead of using rubber as ponytail holder, use long hair clip to hold the hair vertically and twist the hair inwards like a lengthy bun. Nice pins can be used on the side or hair sticks can be inserted for some trendy style. You can also braid the pony tailed hair instead of twisting and just scrolled it from the center hold. This hairstyle is suited both for formal and casual wear.
