Hairstyle ideas for the short – Part 5

Wedding Hair - Practice Run

Just because you have short hair and you are getting married it doesn’t mean you have to grow it long for the big day. When I got married I got a bit fed up of people asking me if I was going to grow my hair. There is lots you can do to make your short hair a bit more special for the big day.

Talk to your hairdresser

-

They are experts in the field so get their opinion to what they recommend for your particular hair. Try different things before the big day. Add some highlights to your hair to give it a brighter look or more texture.

Try a Tiara

-

This is what I had on my wedding day and it adds some attraction to your hair and makes your hairstyle look more special than your day to day look. There are many different styles of tiaras, classic and modern, bronze, silver and gold, with glass, jewels, pearls, simple and more dramatic ones. Try lots and take a friend so you can get someone elses opinion and not just the assistant in the shop.

Add height to your hair

-

Some hairspray and a little backcombing can give a bit more body to your hair, as can rollers. Having a little more body to your hair looks good with a tiara.

Flowers

-

Add flowers to your hair by getting them added on to either a headband or a hairclip. Try this out before the wedding so you can see what it looks like. If you have short hair you want the flowers to be fairly small and simple so not to look overpowering.

Different Styles

-

If you have wavy hair, try straightening it with ceramic irons. You could have it sleek or use the irons to flick it out with a bit more body. Similarly if you have straight hair add more body and a different style by using curlers or rollers. If you have some longer hair at the front try pinning this up or curling the front part for a different look.

Extensions

-

If you do want long hair and don’t want to grow it then try some hair extensions. Either get them added professionally at your hairdressers or buy a hair extension that you can fasten into your hair and wrap your own hair around it so people can’t tell its not your own. However ensure you get the right colour or it will look very un-natural.

Finally remember its your big day and you want to ensure your hair is how you want it to be so choose a style that you are comfortable with. Remember its going to be a long day so ensure your style has sticking power for the whole day. Try and have a little bag stashed away at the wedding venue with a hairbrush, hairspray and some spare hair clips for some quick maintenence as needed throughout the day.
