Fall wedding theme ideas
Fall is a wonderful time for a wedding. It is a time of harvest and bounty, of new beginnings and the beginning of a new season of hope. Summer is over, the food is stored and family and friends are ready to celebrate. It’s the perfect time for your wedding feast and celebration of a new union. A perfect time for a honeymoon where you stay close to keep each other warm in quiet time alone.
If you choose to have a fall wedding there are a few things to consider.
1. Most parts of the country are beginning their cooling season. It can be cold and windy, but with beautiful colors floating across yards and fields, so plan for an indoor wedding. If you can choose a place with large window’s the effect is stunning.
2. Your colors are warm with deep rich earth tones of gold, green, dark red and muted yellows.
Flowers can be an off white with mixtures of red, gold and lots of green. Mix with dry flowers and plants from your local area or purchase from a large craft store.
3. Your table’s and decoration’s should be of muted colors. Cream color table linen with center coverings of dark yellow and forest greens. A center piece of yellow roses brings excitement to the eye. Scatter several candle holders with yellow, orange and gold candles burning to give a warm feeling.
4. Foods are the bounty of the season, signifying success of the harvest so serve warm, strong taste. Drinks should be hot coffee, hot cidar and hot cocoa. Added to the drinks are cooler ones of pure juices and water. For foods consider potato salad, green salad and different types of casseroles. They should be rich in flavor and color. Add crackers and fresh vegetables, sweet, dark berries and cinnamon cookies to fill out the menu.
5. Your cake will be the center of attention when you order it tall. A rich spice cake with cream cheese frosting, decorated with golds and yellows with just a touch of green. Serve all on autumn color plates and napkins.
6. Choose Bridesmaid dresses with long sleeves in a flowing style that changes with each breeze in a color of softest earth tones such as pink, rose or blue. They should carry small flower bouquets of autumn colors as well as a few, very few, flowers in their hair.
7. The Bride! You are open to any color and style of choice, but give your dress a homey warm feeling with long sleeve or a soft jacket or shawl. Choose accents of bows, buttons or sashes in a rich color. Place a wreath of Baby’s Breath in your hair with a few small flowers and wear delicate dark jewelery for accents.
8. The Groom and those who stand with him should be in dark attire with an elegance of fashion and class. But they should never outshine the Bride.
Now you are ready to walk down the isle. A fall wedding is planned and it is going to be a great start to a warm loving relationship in crispy cool weather in which to cuddle for the next several months. Happy wedding and warm wishes for years to come.
