Do you need a wedding planner – Part 1
Close your eyes and imagine your wedding day. Wake up in the morning with the sun coming in the window to start your perfect day. You walk into a living room full of gifts and flowers. Your bridesmaids are all enjoying a breakfast with you while you relax and really take in your day. Later you relax at the beauty salon, getting your hair done and getting a massage. You get to the church and take pictures then retreat to the prep room and wait while the guests find their seats. The ceremony runs smoothly and everyone talks about it for years to come.
Doesn’t that sound perfect? That is the wedding day of dreams, because actually your day starts off at about 6am at the reception hall making sure that the tables are all set correctly and the flowers won’t wilt before the guests get there. You have to wait for the cake to arrive and make sure it is what you ordered. And make sure the DJ is set up. You have to pick up the flowers and deliver them to the correct places. You have to watch the clock at the salon because you still have to round up five bridesmaids, five groomsmen, and the groom to get dressed and at the church in time for pictures. Hopefully everyone knows their part for the ceremony and things run smoothly.

Well, that sounds more like reality. Unless you have a Fairy God Mother of some sorts. That is when you start looking at hiring a wedding planner. There are several things to consider before hiring a planner.
Are you well organized? If you are well organized you may not need a planner. Some brides have no problem delegating responsibility to their bridal party. If you can separate duties to responsible people, you may be able to do everything with minimal stress. However, special people will have to take away from wedding time to work. A planner will confirm the appointments, pick up the flowers, be there for cake delivery, and run the reception so things aren’t forgotten.
Is it in your budget? Most of the time couples choose to not hire a planner because it is not in their budget. Don’t rule out the possibility right away. Many planners have connections to florist, bakers, photographer, etc. They can get you a discounted deal that you would not be able to obtain on your own. Planners also know of several ways to cut costs without cutting quality. Their experience will save you money in several ways. Think of it this way: The savings you planner gets you will pay for the bill (s)he gives you.
Can you trust someone you don’t
