Cheap wedding ideas: Tips for getting married in your own backyard

Having a backyard wedding is a less expensive way to have your celebration. Its important to plan it carefully to get the most out of it. Here are a couple of tips for making this day extra special.
1) Set your budget
Many couples always go over their budget anyway, but it’s very important to have one to always look back on every once in a while. When you’re planning for your wedding, determine which expenses you find the most important and make a list. Figure out which ones you need to buy, which you can borrow, which you need to rent, etc. Then you can allot the budget accordingly.
2) Find your vendors
Pick your florist, caterer, baker, minister, party rental supplier, dj, photographer, hair stylist etc. Make sure you reserve for their services ahead of time for your wedding. Some professionals get booked quicker than others. Always have a back up in case of an emergency. It may be a friend who can take pictures just in case or an auntie who can bake you a cake if there would be a cake disaster of some sort.
3) Prepare your guest list
Your budget would pretty much dictate how many people you can invite to your wedding. But be prepared, some people may feel hurt if they don’t get invited. The best thing to do is make two lists, the A list and the B list. The A list will include the names of people that you feel need to be in the wedding. The B list will include other names of people who you would like to invite if only you had more room. Send out your invitations to your A list first and ask for RSVPs. For each one who declines, you can start putting in people from your B list and invite them as well.
4) Recruit friends and family to help
This can start by asking them who would like to be in the wedding party. Some people prefer to not be in the wedding party but would still like to offer some help. You can consider help in other tasks for the wedding including picking up the cake, setting up the backyard, ushering, cleaning up, etc. Don’t be afraid to ask for help. They will understand that you can’t do everything yourself.
5) Plan for the day
Put together a step by step agenda on how this day will be. Prepare for canopies or umbrellas if it will be a hot day. Have outdoor heaters if it will be a cool night. Or prepare proper lighting if your wedding will be closer to sunset. Always have a plan B just in case there is a possibility of rain or power failure.
