Your groom is standing before you on this day of your dreams. The sun is low in the evening sky and the ocean is dancing in celebration of your marriage. The sand beneath you is soft, yet steady, much like the love between you and your groom. You breathe in the salty air and take in the beauty of this once in a lifetime moment.
As you imagine the romance of your beach wedding, there are so many decisions to be made. Will you get married at sunrise or sunset? Will guests sit or stand? Will you wear your hair up or down? Should the groom wear a tux or something more casual? Should you wear a simple sundress or an elegant white chiffon gown? In the midst of all of these decisions, you have the bridemaids dresses to worry about! Not only do you have to choose a beach-appropriate dress, but it must be a dress that will fit and flatter each of your bridesmaids. Before you crack under the pressure, take a deep breath and remember the beautiful fantasy you have of your wedding.

After working at an upscale bridal salon for several years, I have seen many brides fall apart in tears over bridesmaids that were making conflicting demands over color, style, and even fabric. So as you start the search for bridesmaid dresses, my first tip is to leave the bridesmaids at home! If you must have a second opinion, bring only one. This way you choose what you love, not what everyone else loves.
When you are choosing the dresses for your beach wedding, keep in mind a few important elements. First is length. While almost every dress can be hemmed to the desirable length for a sandy aisle, not every dress will look great cut short. Ask the salon owners to pin the dress so you can see how it will look shortened. Let your friend try it on or try it on yourself. If you choose to go for a flowing sundress style, make sure the skirts are at a safe length for the whipping winds. Anything too short will fly up in the wind, exposing your bridesmaids’ underwear. This won’t look too great on the video! Anything too long will get tangled between their legs as the wind blows, making them look like you put them in strange tight pants with trains. This will also be terrible in pictures and very unflattering on heavier bridesmaids.
Second, remember to consider the temperature. If your wedding will be in the blazing heat of midday, you want to choose dresses made of light, airy fabric. Nothing would be more miserable than having sweat stains showing through beautiful
